I purchased this a couple weeks ago - after installation (not hard btw despite the reviews on Amazon) after installation, I tested the ppm and there was exactly zero difference from the test reading from the tap before installation.
It's a bummer because I was hoping to negate the use of a Brita.
So I uninstalled it and returned it.

Brita filters are ANSI rated 42/53 and sometimes 401. None of those ratings work to reduce PPM. So while the PPM comment is correct, the correlation that Britas are better does not make sense. If you want to reduce PPM/TDS, you need to go to Reverse Osmosis. I have no experience with this brand but I have an undersink filter just like this for ANSI 42/53 and I DID replace my brita because it is exactly a replacement for it. I'm personally not hung up on TDS.

26000 gallons if true is quite incredible for the size when the typical refrigerator filter is rated for 200-300 gallon and 40 gallons for a standard Brita.

A high gallon life cycle is partially an indicator of a filter that does not remove much from water.
