If you want Hogwarts Legacy for Switch 2, buy the Switch 1 version for cheap ($12 right now I think) and then pay $10 to upgrade it to Switch 2.

Reddit says "Runs at a locked 30 fps. Resolution wise is the same. Sadly it becomes more noticeable on Switch 2 due to the bigger screen. Load times are a little better, but still very long."

I don't know if Switch Lite is weaker than Switch, but my kid is currently playing and it runs like 15-20fps. He doesn't know any better, but when I have to help him on something, it feels so bad to me.

Hogwarts Legacy for switch 2 can be $10. Just buy a used copy from GameStop for switch 1, put it in then go to the eshop and purchase the Switch 2 version for $10. Return the cartridge to GameStop. Also you can use a free trial of game fly to get the switch 1 cartridge for free.

The Switch 2 version is a ground-up brand new port and a bespoke version on the eShop. During the unveiling it was communicated that it would be a full priced game with no upgrade path from the Switch 1 version, because it wasn't an "upgrade" it was a brand new port. Whether it was communicated wrong, or they changed their stance due to backlash, they implemented the system where if you have the Switch 1 version, you can purchase the Switch 2 version for $10. But there's the loophole you mention - because it isn't a "patch" it's not tied to you permanently owning the S1 version.

I say all that to explain why they had to implement it this way. And while I will not have any love lost for WB missing out on a few dollars, people doing things like this and openly advocating for it is why we miss out on shit like this in the future. Next time a situation like this happens company A is going to just say "make them pay full price, people take advantage of this method"

Lego City Undercover is my kids favorite game. Start playing it when he was 6, still playing at 7. That and Lego Jurassic Park.
