This is a total of 1500 min 1500 texts, 1.5 GB data that can be used over a 1-year period. You can purchase additional time, minutes, texts, data at Tracfone (or purchase a new Tracphone like these, with time, minutes, texts, data)
"Tracfone Prepaid Service promotional package includes a no-contract 365-Day Plan of 1500 Talk & Text, plus 1.5GB of data."
There's lots of info in other Tracphone threads about how you transfer a number, how your current minutes, texts, data, and time get added to those included with a new Tracfone, etc. As always, Tracphone customer service can be poor, but you can usually transfer your existing Tracfone service to a new phone without dealing with customer service (woe to you if you have to deal with customer service).
Per the manual for Model # XT2271DL, you can install a compatible microSD card of up to 512GB to increase storage capacity.

2023 seems to support more bands than the 2024

I guess the answer depends on what you want to do with the phone, and how the capabilities differ across the phone options you are considering.
I'm pretty sure options for installing parental controls are the same across all Moto G phones.
I really don't understand why someone would care that a phone is the 2023, or 2024, or 2025 version. For the way I use the phone (mainly for texts and phone calls, extremely little internet and I never access any sensitive personal accounts (such as financial or credit card) accounts on my phone, the difference just doesn't matter.
I buy the cheap tracphones for the time, minutes, texts - there are many other people who do the same. They work just fine for me - the idea of paying even $70 for a single phone, let alone $900, is sheer nuts to me.
One thing I'd emphasize to kids:
Phone security is not as good as you can get via a computer (if you take security seriously and install appropriate security software on your computer, and do certain things only via wired connection), so I simply don't do those things on my phone.
Many apps essentially act as spyware, and that's another thing I'd emphasize to kids. Don't be accessing sensitive sites, like financial, bank, credit cards, etc. on phones with spyware (masquerading as a helpful app) installed.
Don't plan on doing much besides making phone calls (even with fast internet it takes hours to update the software from 12 to 13 with several security updates).
This phone is extremely slow by today's standards with minimal specs (it's definitely the 2023 model) but if you're just going to harvest the service it's a good deal.
The 2024 two phone G Play deal is better when it's on sale since it's a little more usable with 4 GB ram and more storage.

and 100% Agree, the 2024 2-pack for $80-15 or even the single 2025 for $60-15 though only 1GB of ram more than the 3GB 2023 will be night/day in the quality of user experience.
I've got one 2023 that's semi usable, took installing Niagara launcher, debloating with adbAppControl and Shizuki+Canta to remove a bit more bloat. But I won't sit here and act like its worth the effort.
