Look, Slickdeals has a lot of cheapskates here. You can't take the advice of someone who says that they don't like REI or Patagonia or any of the other extremely well-made high-quality brands. a lot of people just can't afford them and then they cope by saying that they can't find anything good or that the quality isn't any better than some crappy brand they already own

Anyone who hasn't found anything to buy at REI in years is either too poor to actually shop there or isn't actually an outdoors person. Gear gets used and abused and even high-quality stuff wears out over time

Don't think so. The official labor day catalog usually says REI members get an exclusive 20% off one full priced and one outlet item on the front page but looks like its missing off this years.
