No. Not at all. OLED blows this away. This TV is only a little above Sony's entry level TVs. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...x90l-x90cl

Saying you like the PQ of this over the C3 is hilarious. The C3's picture quality is massively better. The color of C3 is trying too hard? 😂 No one should ever listen to you. The C3 just has far better color. Judging by your comment, I'm going to guess you're at least 60.
Sony's strength has always been in its processing, and that's where the X90L really pulls ahead of the C3. Motion looks smoother, upscaling is cleaner, and regular 1080p content actually feels closer to true 4K when you watch it on the Sony. Colors come across more natural and lifelike instead of looking pushed or artificial. That is why a lot of people who have compared the two side by side end up saying the Sony just looks more accurate and balanced overall.

The C3 definitely has deep blacks and strong contrast, but that is not the only thing that makes up picture quality. OLEDs can sometimes push color to the point where it feels exaggerated, which might stand out in a store but doesn't always feel right at home. Sony takes a more cinematic approach where the image looks like what the creator intended instead of like a demo reel. For people who value a natural picture, the X90L makes a stronger case than it gets credit for.

Sony also has a clear edge when it comes to brightness and handling ABL. The X90L gets brighter overall, which means HDR content pops more and daytime viewing is easier without having to dim the room. The C3's automatic brightness limiter can kick in pretty aggressively, especially with brighter scenes or games, and that can make the picture look dimmer than it should. On the Sony you don't run into that issue nearly as much, so what you see stays consistently bright and impactful.

That difference really matters if you are watching sports, playing games, or just using the TV in a well-lit room. The C3 can look great in the right conditions, but the X90L gives you a picture that holds up no matter what you throw at it. When you add in the stronger processing, more natural color, and better motion, the Sony ends up delivering a picture that feels more true to life and less compromised by limitations like ABL.

My 4 year old X90J has a higher rating than this model (7.9 vs 7.6) I find that disappointing, but I love the X90J.

This tv is not as great as you guys think it is. I have the 98 qm6k from costco and the qm6k blows this away in contrast , details, deep blacks, motion. The sony can get brighter in HDR but not by much . I thought the sony would blow away the qm6k but not the case at all. The qm6k sooo much better in soo many ways. QM6k SDR brightness is way bright enough while preserving super high contrast and accuracy. For gaming the qm6k blows the sony away. And although HDR is brighter on the sony, not by much , the qm6k still has better more impactful 3D experience that exceeds expectations in contrast detail and color saturation and for sure better motion. Im shocked the the QM6K is as good as it is.

Thank you, OP. I just purchased the last one in Corona, CA. Unfortunately, it didn't fit my Tesla, so I paid for it and will pick it up with the truck tomorrow.
Could you please suggest a wall mount? Thank you!

I LOVE Sony's processing as much as you do, and I have a 75" X950G from personal experience to vouch for all the good things you say about Sony TVs and natural colors and processing.

But, I also have a 65" S90C. The only time I find myself preferring to watch on the Sony TV is for sports due to Sony's superior processing for motion and its bigger size. Literally everything else I much prefer on the OLED.

That said, if anyone reading this hasn't caught on yet: if you want the best of both (superior picture processing and perfect contrast offered by OLED tech) then get a Sony OLED. Then, the next step down (arguably depending on use case) would be a Samsung or LG OLED, because they've closed the gap and are much closer to Sony when it comes to processing these days. This is an oversimplification, though, because there's many models to choose from depending on use case, preferences, and budget. But Sony still reigns king when it comes to processing, and this X90L definitely benefits from that.

Yes, but you would need a chainsaw to cut up the TV or the Jaws of Life to modify your car.

LG processing has basically closed the gap with Sony for the last couple of gens. Nothing against Sony and I prefer GTV OS but with the prices usually being crazy high on Sony OLEDs I'd recommend a C series (or 83B4) for most folks.

I'm not the OP, but the Costco item number is 9085090. And here is the rtings review link: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...x90l-x90cl
Thanks for posting that - I'm trying to understand when Costco part numbers are different - how did you connect the X90L/X90CL to this XR85X90CL ? Is it just the last digits (X90CL?) I thought the first numbers were the version - XR85
