There was a deal for 30% off for "used like new" for $184. The one I got had an opened box but no data transferred according to crystaldiskinfo.

It almost reaches the historical low price. Currently, $249 at mbpc with code 990SUN is a better deal.

What are you guys storing on yours? Overkill for games?

Edit for clarity: I don't mean the storage size (assuming the 'unhelpful' votes are related to that), I mean being a 990 Pro gen 4 vs a slower and less expensive NVME drive, or even a SATA drive.

For me, yeah basically. But I think those doing high-end video editing still benefit from solid state storage.
Keep in mind, some game are like 75GB. I don't want to have to uninstall an unfinished game, to install another.

basically yea but you don't really need a high-end high-end nvme to store/load games.

high-tier gen 3 or low-mid tier gen 4 nvme is suffice. hell even sata 2.5 ssd is enough.

this is perfect for OS or media content creator where they shoot 4k videos/photos

Historial low was also at b&h for 204 dollars. This is still a good price for a great drive

The Asus Zephryus G14 supports only single sided because of lack of space. I already confirmed 2 TB version fits, but was not sure of the 4 TB version. Wanted to be sure before I order. Any idea? Thank you for your response.

most higher end motherboards have narrow tolerances to put ssd under the chipset heatsink and fan. i have this under that in an asrock x570 taichi board. very reliable and above average temp stable.

Don't think I can return it anyway, but what do people think about what was a better deal, the $200 Evo plus or this $250 pro?

There are exceedingly few use cases where the performance difference matters. And of those, maxing out the memory most likely will have a bigger impact.

dual boot ubuntu dev and windows, I'm cheap, I have a Teamsgroup 4tb ssd acquired a while back (so far so good, knock on wood)
This is super tempting though
