Why can't they make a nice little single serving brewer that uses a disposable paper filter? My daily coffee machine is a Black and Decker Brew and Go. Works great but looks like a $14 pile of plastic on my counter. I take out the old paper filter with grounds, dump it in the garbage, put in a new paper filter, add 1/8 cup coffee using my handy metal scoop, pour in a mug of water, then great coffee in a minute. So you beat me my 30 seconds using a Kcup, but you get coffee that doesn't taste as good.

They want people either buying the Keurigs that they make millions on via the printer&ink model, or the $2500 fancy ass machine they also make millions on.

So, you answered your own question then. Why would you buy this when you have a cheap normal drip coffee maker with the cheap paper filter. A box of K-cup coffee at 30 count is more expensive than 500 sheets of filter. And a 2 lb ground coffee is less than $15 and makes over 100 cups of coffee.

Or you can get a decent keurig machine and a refillable k-cup (EcoBrew) and grind your own coffee or buy pre ground. No consumables. Decent coffee.
