Personally, I gave up on the cheapie clickers because I didn't trust them after having a few experiences where they just wouldn't click. A cheap beam-type is what I use now for 1/4" applications. It's kind of a pain in that you sometimes need to crane your neck to view the measurement, but I never worry about it being imprecise (calibration is as simple as making sure the arrow rests on "zero" and bending it so that it does if it doesn't).
