Anyone have any experience with these? How do they compare to random amazon off brand bone conduction headphones or other brands like Shokz?

Shokz are slightly better than suunto, but Suunto are way better than the cheapo off brand ones. If you sweat a lot, go with the swimming ones though, I had to send these back after about a month because they couldn't handle getting wet very well. My shokz open run pros lasted about 3 months before I returned them and went with open swims

Interesting, I tried to save money by not buying Shokz and got some random pair on amazon for like 25 bucks and they're pretty sub par. I don't expect much from any open ear headphone, but they really underwhelmed me even with my low expectations. I mostly use open headphones for cycling or climbing where I need some awareness of my surroundings, neither of which cause me to sweat nearly as much as running so I don't think I'd need the swim version. Thanks for the info!

I've always wanted to try a decent set of bone conduction headphones, but I'm afraid it's just a gimmicky speaker that is close to your ear.

I guess you could use these with ear plugs? Like when mowing, I want to protect my hearing with ear plugs but would like to listen to music?

Yes can be worn with earplugs. Adding earplugs makes the bone conduction headphones louder.

shokz open run will be on sale for $75 next week, and for under $20 more you get much better quality and IP67 rating.
