As someone who's never seen this show, but knows it had a massive following, do these hold up? Not sure if seeing it for the first time now is a good idea or if it's one of those shows that is only worth having if you were already a fan...

I've rewatched it every couple of years. But again I grew up with it and was a big fan. The plot was good, ideas too, don't expect fancy CGI. But its better than any Star Trek or any other scifi. I hoped Fringe will come close, but it did not.

I never watched the show back in the 90s. Just wasn't in to it. But these days I have a huge fondness of 90s shows for nostalgia's sake. I wouldn't buy this expecting amazing storylines like Breaking Bad, but it is watchable/background entertainment. Let it play while you browse your phone. Some good episodes here and there. Good cameos throughout of people that later got famous. Gillian is gorgeous. Don't regret my purchase.

If you aren't familiar with how it works, there will be a main storyline that progresses through the seasons, but they will mix in "monster of the week" episodes throughout that don't have much to do with the main story.

Well since I am 90s kids I always have nostalgia for 90s shows, movies and actors.
Having said that this one is really, really good, you won't get bored for sure.
I rewatch every now and then and feel like the last few episodes or last two seasons were drag.
But, it's iconic music and lead pair will help you entertain.

As somebody who is currently watching this for the first time this is perfectly said. It is excellent background tv while I doink around on my phone. I don't feel like I miss anything if I'm not locked in. It's entertaining but not something I would try to convince people to watch

Fringe started out so good and then got progressively worse overall (still some good episodes here and there), until I just stopped watching second to last or last season.
