I was gonna purchase through T-Mobile app and noticed the $35 activation fee. I then went to Chat and asked for it to be removed. They said they couldn't BUT could give me a $35 credit to my account.

If it makes you feel any better, the costco kiosk guy said in person the promo was applied, but it's not mentioned on any of the documents.
You can check the status of the promotion here.

They ask for the IMEI of the phone you are trading in.

I contacted T-Mobile for changing the trade-in device, they said I could send in a totally different phone as long as that phone is qualified for $800. They said this is a new rule rolled out a couple of years ago. So in your case, I guess you could input your current phone IMEI now and send in a different phone later

This is a lifesaver. My trade in device I won't have until after the 28th which might be the end of the promotion. I'd like to make the purchase with my existing phones IMEI and wasn't sure if we could change the IMEI on the trade. Both will include the $800 trade in value. Would this be better done through a rep in the Costco store? When I called the 833 number referenced earlier in this thread, they said I needed the IMEI of the phone I'm trading in.

They don't care if it's carrier/SIM locked. But do follow all their instructions on resetting the device and not having any account/screen locks or passwords.

Never been on T-mobile, so not super familiar with them. If I port in my number from Verizon, get a Pixel 10 and trade in my Pixel 6, would my EIP be 0 assuming only tax plus $35 activation fee and $65 for cheapest plan is due during sign-up? Would I still have to wait 2 years to get the device unlocked? How soon can I switch back to another operator? If I do, do I lose the chance to get the device unlocked?

Your actual EIP will likely be a few dollars, assuming a small bit of trade in value given up front and the rest over bill credits. The only way your EIP is $0 is if your trade in value for your old device is $0 and the remainder is all bill credits. You would have to wait two years for the device to be unlocked, as it needs to be paid off before T-Mobile will unlock it. You cannot pay it off early anymore to unlock it and continue receiving bill credits.

Has anybody tried to check the same offer at costco? Generally if Costco has the same offer, the activation will be waived off and sometimes they will throw in a costco shop card to sweeten the deal.
called Costco they did it for me. same promotion. fee waived and 100 gift card

Costco is way better. Go through them. You don't pay $35 and you get $100 shop card after about 3 to 4 months. That alone makes it worth paying for the membership if you don't already have Costco. T-Mobile is trash. Don't go through them.
Also, I am on simple choice for a data point. It works great. The full $800 for the S10e. $85 on eBay for that phone lol.
