I heard the game developers released a patch that censored aspects of the game, for everyone, due to Chinese backlash. I know people are working on a way to remove the censorship but don't know if that is completed.

I read about this too. You'll need the hardcopy to play the original version otherwise certain parts of the storyline might be cut off due to the change.
