- The XL is too big to be comfortable for me, so I've wanted a slightly smaller phone, anyway.
- MagSafe is one of the things I've been envious of on iPhones, so Pixelsnap (which is effectively the same as MagSafe) is a feature I care about. Many people probably don't care.
- Most importantly: it's "free" for me on the balance sheet. My wife shattered her Pixel 7 Pro and the (free) credit card insurance paid out $600 for it, which is what this costs before tax. Yes, she could have just gotten the new P10Pf herself, or used my P9PXL, but she doesn't like the size of the P9PXL, either, and so I'd just be jealous of her P10P, hah. I sold the P9PXL for $600 on FB Marketplace - almost $200 more than I paid for it less than a year ago from Spectrum - so there wasn't any compelling reason to keep it over just putting that money toward the P10P.
I will say that I don't love - or even understand, really - the lack of physical SIM in the US variants, though it probably won't matter. I don't give a fig for the AI crap, either, though the ultra res processing at 100x zoom has the potential to be beneficial in certain circumstances. There's basically no reason to upgrade from a 9 pro right?
Not really, no...though full disclosure that I'm "upgrading" from the 9 Pro XL (6.8") to the 10 Pro (6.3"). I'm doing it for a few reasons:

It's unlimited 2% CB on everything.

Isnt that with a 2 year contract though?
US telecom doesn't do 2 year contracts anymore. They do 3 year contracts. And tie it to discounts on the monthly lease of the phone. Thus if you cancel no ETF. But that $0 phone is now $1000 and the bill is due at cancellation. Removing subsidized plans did simplify the market for consumers. Killed benefits for SMB but I digress.
And just like ETFs of old, these new 3yr "lease to own" phone contracts, the amount you owe goes go down over time. Personally, I will never sign a 3 year phone contract.
The purchase price they list is not what they use for tax purposes and from what I can find they don't disclose that clearly anywhere. Instead they treat the discount as a rebate and charge tax on the full amount. Common with cell phones but usually disclosed somewhere.
In other words, if you buy the phone today for $600 in a city with 10% sales tax you'll pay $700.
A bigger issue: You can buy this and other Pixel phones at the advertised discounted prices outright, but if you use their payment plan you lose the initial discount permanently and you are only eligible for 1/36 of that discount every month for 3 years. If you leave earlier than that you'll lose whatever monthly discount Spectrum hasn't applied. Multiple reps at Spectrum were not aware of that when I bought my phone and thought the phone could be paid off at anytime without losing the full discount.
If you choose their payment plan and cancel after 2 months you'll pay $1078 for the same phone that costs $700 if you pay up front.
I'm against lying to the consumer calling a contract a not contract. Which is what they all do. For 3 years of 2 years.
