Total has this phone for $49.99 and has the 60 day unlock. They also have the 2024 model for free with port in and some review sites say the 2024 is preferred over the 2025. If you don't want to pay the $60 for the second month, get with chat and ask them to apply their $10. month talk and text plan. This Metro deal makes no sense to me since a 1 year wait. Cricket also has this 2025 Stylus at $19.99 with port in and a 6 month unlock. Drop down to their $30 plan to save. Motorola direct has the 2024 Stylus for $249. fully unlocked and they do take trade in's.

The single most important question that I believe many might have is the need for continuous service beyond month 1 to be eligible for unlock. As there are mixed responses across metro threads, it would be great if someone can confirm if the device indeed got unlocked with just one month of paid service or paying at 11th month to have an active service for system to unlock at 12th month completion . If this new unlock policy was enforced on or after August 2024, we would have to wait for someone to pass the one year mark to share their experiences.
I agree with what @ThriftyGame5232 said: Metro phones get unlocked 180 days after paying 1 month of service charges. Now they change that 180 days to 365 days; that's all.

It is a personal choice to wait for 12 months or look for a deal elsewhere.

If fully unlocked after one year,
will this phone work on Verizon network, i.e Visible Wireless?

I was told by others that Visible Wireless $19 per month unlimited talk text data plan also comes with Unlimited mobile hotspot at 5Mbps speed.

If this phone works on Verizon network, I plan to cut my home cable internet connection that costs me $55 a month.

Anyone used T-Mobile Motorola phones on Verizon network and still got most of the frequency working?

Most of the metro deals I have done for Samsung or Moto have worked on Visible. You can use this on visible after it is unlocked and disconnect your home network as you plan.

Metro offers $0 for Moto Edge 2025 with port-in.
Edge 2025 offers much better performance than this G Stylus 2025(much better specs on CPU, storage...), I will wait for the Edge to offer $0 for new number(without port-in), or deal with the port-in trouble. Unless you don't like the "edge" screen, or you want the stylus.

  1. This specific deal does not require you to port in a number
  2. No. Number barn, google voice, or any number from a carrier based on T-mobile network will not qualify for any of their port in promotional prices.

I last bought a Metro phone when the unlock policy was 6 months after activation and didn't have any issue unlocking then. With the 12 month unlock policy now, have there been confirmations that Metro phones really do get automatically unlocked after 12 months after just 1 month of paid service?
I bought a Revvl 7 Pro and activated 05/27/24 which was right after the new 365-day policy took effect. I unlocked it a couple of weeks ago. It initially told me that it didn't qualify for unlocking in settings and gave me a link to a site that said it needed to be active on network for a year. I then saw another option that said "permanent unlock" in settings so I did that and it unlocked. I think the software needed to be updated or it might have been reading from a ghost script of T-mobile's policy that was left in the phone on initial attempt. Suffice it to say it was NOT automatic but rather buggy to say the least.

Thanks for the info. The title of this deal seems to imply port in is required

I thought about it since I have the Edge 2024, which comes with the Qualcomm SM7435-AB Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. Edge 2025 comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra processor, and I hate MediaTek for real. Some people hate curved screens, but I like them.

The Moto G Stylus option is useful unless you don't like it at all. Overall spec is very similar to Edge 2025 (all of them use mid-range processors, so pick your option), and I don't want to deal with the port-in hassle with Metro at all. Metro is very weird to deal with (most of the prepaid) and keep things simple (initially they banned me because I timed out while answering security questions).

For visible service you can enter any iphone IMEI to get the sim. Once received the sim you can just use it on any (almost) unlocked phone.

I know some people use their phone as a hotspot for home Internet but I don't recommend that due to it puts lot of wear and tear on the phone. Hotspot really eats up the battery. I have Visible $20 per month deal and I wouldn't beat up my phone especially a pretty expensive daily driver phone. Assuming that you have Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Paramount+, etc, those would really use lot of data. Look into T-Mobile home Internet service that I believe is like $35 per month. If you really don't use internet much at home and don't have streaming services, I guess you can get by with hotspot but if you got streaming services, I would definitely look into T-Mobile home Internet if it is available in your area. If it isn't showing up available in your area on the website, go to the local store because it could still be available.

Edge 2025 MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra is same 4x Cortex A55 and 4x Cortex A78 just clocked higher 3% faster single core and 12% multi faster on geekbench 6 so not much difference over Snapdragon 6 Gen 3.
