Can't speak to the open box part. But I installed the 9k unit last summer in my Florida house and it has been fine a bit over a year now. Installation is key though I wouldn't trust the factory flares.

I installed a 9k Turbro Greenland series in our bedroom a couple of weeks ago and it has been fine so far(not saying much for only 2 weeks). I used the factory flares and used Nylog. Hopefully it will be fine.

Maybe a stupid question but why is the SEER rating on the 115v 12K BTU better than the 230v 12k BTU model?

Don't you need to add a lineset for $150 to complete this? Brings it right to the $450 range that you can buy a new unit every day on other sites or am I missing something?
