I've been waiting ever since for the blender to die so I could get a taller/thinner model, but it just won't. Not that that's bad thing, hah. (It's a Cuisinart Vitamix clone, and they don't sell taller jars.)
The "programs" on more expensive Vitamixes are truly all but useless, but one of the partially useful ones - the long "Soup" program - is essentially replicated on any "self-detect" Vitamix like this Venturist Pro in that it stops blending automatically after 6-7 minutes (the soup program stops at about 5.5 minutes, I believe) with 64-oz. container.
Auto-detect RFID can be easily defeated with inexpensive RFID disc placed under rubber bumper pad near spindle gear.
V1200 was previously available refurbished a few times from both Amazon and Vitamix directly at $199.
This is still a great blender and great deal, and I'd like to compare it to the "standard" 5200-type tall, thin container's performance, although the short 64-oz container on my E320, and my V1200 (mine still boxed, but I briefly tried one I gifted), this Venturist Pro, and all new Ascent-X Vitamixes. I can say that the short jar can certainly make a 12- to 16-oz. smoothie just fine (which is a fairly small smoothie) - ingredient order in container is key.
