Part of me wants to buy. Part of me knows if this doesn't rapidly sell out, it will greatly pressure NVMe 8TB blades below $500... after years of AI and crypto games.

And there's no question that with a USB4 v2 Enclosure would be the alpha we really are seeking.

I'm surprised at how many current motherboards are incorporating BOTH USB4 and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 for 40 and 20Gbps in the same product -- but I fear it won't last long, since the USB spec does not REQUIRE downward compatibility like that.

Is this the standard price for an external 8 TB SSD? Where are you seeing a better deal on this drive?

bought it earlier with the same price. Great drive, I like the size and the speed.

This is cheaper than the standard price for an internal 8TB SSD.

Which begs the question... Shuckable? This size and form factor leads me to believe that it's 2-4 smaller SSDs running in JBOD/RAID.

Have multiple of this design. They do not overheat in room temp, but the tradeoff is they do not run fast enough to.

Not shuckable. If it was they would have sold out in hours, tops.
