I would wait a week or two and see if it drops or gets a coupon on Amazon, simply due to the superior return process in case something happens in the first 30 days.

Currently at $871.90

$839 for a laptop cpu... I realize if you're buying this, it's for the SFF. But, you could get a 9900x or 9800x3d cpu/mobo/ram/case/psu for about this much.
In CPU intensive tasks, it is far more powerful than both of those. May be you should check the performance figures before saying "Laptop CPU". In case you are wondering, it performs 90% of a Desktop Ryzen 9 9950X with a fraction of the power requirements.
And they people who understand this, not buying this for any SFF build but for a Mini Workstation/Server/HomeLab setup. I don't think you understood the ports it has in the 1st place. Show me a single AM5 board with 10 Gbps Networking port. It is not for SFF build.

Sad that I bought into the generation before they started adding SFP ports, that's dope as hell

the only concern is I heard that the system draws 100w power even when idle, maybe caused by the 2x10g nic

May I know from where you got the info? I checked couple of reviews as well. Yes, it has higher than normal idle power consumption but that's not 100W.

Man this feels so overpriced when you compare the performance of a 7940/7945HX with the 9955HX. I guess if you really need the 2x10Gb + 4x M2, and this specific form factor, it makes more sense, but ugh. When the Minisforum 7945HX mATX board is only $312 right now, it feels like a better option for a lot of people, and you aren't restricted to a low profile GPU. I do like the idea of this specific build for a NAS though, but it's a bit overkill unless you're going to run some beefy server stuff on it, and even then as others said, it seems to have no ECC support. However, I do think you should be able to go up to 128GB DDR5 rather an 96GB, as most of the other models in that 79xx lineup are now supporting 2x64GB DDR5 SODIMMs.
Just some food for thought.

It is a Minisforum, not Minisiforum in the title.
