Had a P2008BTL two speed trimmer, with the 2-in-1 dual blade head, set on speed 1, with 4ah battery, for an average sized lawn. Just the right rpm's on speed setting 1, with the two serrated blades, lasted the whole yard. Any other trimmer, or speed setting 2 (faster rpm's) would be counterproductive. You can get the trimmer pretty cheap nowadays.

After many years of using Echo gas powered trimmers, I found these Ryobi trimmers unsatisfactory. Admittedly, Echo is a quality and durable product. I returned the Ryobi after two hours of use and exchanged it for a Milwaukee.

Dont know which model I have but I have a ryobi trimmer similar to this one. Works as expected. It seems the string lasts forever. IIRC, I've only had to change it once since new and I pretty much do 80% of the lawn. (20% paying the other folks to do it because I didnt feel like it lol).
I'm looking for an edger, though thinking it would work better since I dont edge until every other mow.

Is ONE+ HP 18V different from ONE+ 18V? I have a boat load of Ryobi batteries but none of them have the "HP" in the name. I'd hate to end up with two incompatible types of batteries...

HP have extra tabs so it can draw more power. It is backwards compatible but won't be as powerful for HP tools.

I'd hold out for an attachment capable model over this one. The attachments are universal over a few different brands so they can often be picked up pretty cheap on the used market. I have 2 trimmer heads, a pruner saw, and edger, and a brush trimmer.

bought it last month for $99, i guess that was a sale since it's $140 now.

Great trimmer tbh, only real downside i find is the slow startup time.

I bought this model a couple of years ago at full price. This is amazing. Unlike some cheaper trimmers, the trimmer string comes out on two sides. It has cut through heavy duty weeds. Only thing to watch out with heavy duty weeds is to follow the recommended trimmer movement direction - once you do that, they don't generally tangle up in the trimmer.

Unless you are a professional trimming person, this is a great trimmer. Even for a professional person, I think it is really nice given the lower noise level versus the gam trimmer.

I bought this at this price point a few weeks back. I also own 2 Ryobi 40v trimmers. They all have the same string bump feed mechanism however this 18v is extremely difficult to reinstall the head after removal for service. I saw this in a couple reviews and thought it must be user error since it looked the same as my 40v ones but I can attest that this 18v is significantly tighter than the 40v ones. Still doable but not without putting some grrr into it. For what it's worth. Great trimmer though. Plenty of speed/power and is certainly quiet. Battery life will be shorter than the 40v but if you have plenty of larger capacity batteries it won't matter to most Ryobi folk.
