Realistically it's not a concern as long as it's a new sealed processor and your BIOS is up to date. The microcode will get updated as soon as you power on the PC. Its the used grey market processors you need to worry about.

I doubt it'll fail. I don't think I've ever had a cpu fail and we've had cpu that had known issues in thousands of desktops and thinclients and I doubt any of them failed because of the CPU specifically went bad.

Looks difficult maybe impossible with this bundle if you want to keep the CPU.
Intel shows you the game codes once pass the CPU check so can sell them to anyone.
If this is the case then maybe intel can adjust the code redemption to cover newegg's mistake.

I already have a 14700. I am assuming that you get a code with this purchase separate from CPU shipment. Could I buy this, use the code and my 14700 to activate, then sell the 14600k as new unopened? Or if it's possible to just return the new CPU unopened?
