It is essentially a french press like you'd use for hot coffee brewing, but with a magnetic stirring mechanism like you'd see in a chemistry lab.
It performs better and faster to make cold brew than, say, just making cold brew in a regular french press. The stirring means you can make cold brew within 15-45 min (I sometimes let it run longer for a strong brew), rather than 6-12+ hours. And I have no idea how anyone considers this "hard to clean" because it's quite easy, just like a french press.
My only qualm is the small volume. I'm a big coffee / caffeine person and this only makes enough cold brew / concentrate for a day or two for me.
When you're done and are extracting the plunger from the carafe, I -strongly- recommend that you place the carafe on a reliable flat surface and hold it down firmly with one hand while slowly pulling the plunger up and out with the other. The plunger fits tightly and the carafe is simple glass - when the plunger is freed ("POP") from the top, it is VERY easy for the carafe to slip, topple or fall, and crack, chip, or even shatter. It's not happened to me, but having read about this from other buyers and having made several batches I can see how this could easily happen.
Since this is for two, I recommend setting the 2nd one aside as a backup in case this happens to you. You -could- gift the 2nd, but I think you'll really want to have that replacement carafe on hand.

If I could get them for $5 each, I'd grab four and try to repurpose them. Maybe use that tornado-like agitation action for cleaning small items in 91% isopropyl alcohol, or mixing drink powders, etc.
I really like the magnetic mechanism that drives the agitation. Like another member mentioned, it reminds me of those chemistry mixers you see in high school labs. Maybe some cheap basterd chemist could scoop up a bunch and build a mad scientist lab on the cheap 😂
Someone had mentioned getting one of these a month or two back. At the time, I thought "Why this vs a decent stainless steel french press and brewing for 10-24hrs?"
Is there something special I am missing about this? Seems like a gimmick product to make a few bucks, imo.
