is dram important if it's going to be used as an NVME NAS?

Yes, if you're consistently moving enough, or large enough files consistently overwhelm drives without a cache

Going DRAMless is a cool way to make your SSDs write like spinning disks while wearing out faster

A 2TB NVME SSD needs to be at least $90 to be considered a slick deal.

yes, better. but in that vein, a brand new Ferrari is better than an old Yugo... better, but also MORE EXPENSIVE. the question therefore becomes, does the "better" justify the more expensive pricetag... and there in lies the big question...

If i had a choice between a Tesla Model Y vs a Hyndai Ioniq 5 id take the Tesla. However i did go with a lease on Ioniq 5 because now its worthless when i go to turn it in after 2 years.

Tesla has a better resale value and doesnt have the ICCU problem that was never fixed on the IOniq 5 that can leave you stranded.
I do like the V2L though on Ioniq, i was able to get free charging for 2 years with the Green new scam. I was able to heat my house with a 1800w heater and run up a electrify america bill for 9500 ,heading to 10k this christmas...
Its too bad the range sucks on Hyundai compared to alot of other good EVs for the money.

Unless you're going to put an NVMe drive in an external enclosure, many (most?) OSes and SSD controllers support a technology called HMB (for Host Memory Buffer) that gives you most of the benefits of DRAM on the SSD.

The SN7100 uses very high quality flash memory which is an unusual design choice for a DRAMless SSD making it unusually attractive even as an OS drive. And is low power which is great for applications with little or no airflow.
