"Ryzen 7 H 255 is a rebadged Ryzen 7 8845HS in first benchmarks." AMD is bad abour renaming cpus to make the masses think that they are new... 🤦 ♂️

The Ryzen 7 H 255 is a chip from the Hawk Point family that is only available in China. The chip is identical to the older Ryzen 7 8745H and has 8 cores
It wasn't supposed to escape containment in China, but here it is in a GMKtec box.

Bad deal if the other user is getting the same stuff (but better SSD) for $300.

Haha Thanks. I didn't know what this was. For my use case I'd probably just save 80 bucks and get a 7845HS instead.

True. The Phoenix/Hawk Point NPU (10/16 TOPS) is virtually useless though.

What makes this a "gaming" mini PC? Does the Radeon 780M run modern games, and/or is the user expected to connect an external GPU through the USB 4 port?

This is overpriced. Just using a rebranded Processor to hike the price is not a good idea by any means. Mini PCs with similar Ram and SSD configuration and Ryzen 7 8745HS or 8845HS are available at almost $100 cheaper price in lot of spaces, some even from GMKTec
