And from what they say "acceptable condition" stands for -- knowing the counterfeits and low quality Amazon is known for with "new" merchandise -- I don't have high hopes for the machine to meet even that "acceptable" criteria. And this is an abused garage sale find that's probably a spit n' shine refurb (usually with more spit than shine).
All to say simply: this isn't a slick deal. This is effectively ewaste. In 2015, 16gb ram + 512gb ssds were considered baseline. You cannot upgrade or replace any component in this machine. Which is a shame, because the CPU is perfectly fine.
The only way this machine is a "deal" is if you have exceptionally minimal requirements, super small budget (and if that's the case, why a mac?), and high risk tolerance given the relative poor condition + short warranty. How do the kids say it: "the juice isn't worth the squeeze"?
There was a sale on SD recently for M1 Macbook Air with 16gb ram + 1tb ssd, with a 1 year "All States" warranty -- for $500. Which is arguably a far better deal.
They came as used/opened/clearly broken. They were "sure we'll give you a refund....AFTER you send us a picture of it." Um, ok? If I simply didn't LIKE it, you wouldn't need a photo.
Then they did the same shenanigans with the returns, but with a UPS store. There's a UPS dropoff point (for prepaid labels) about 10 mins from me. The UPS Store? 45 minutes away, in an unsavory section of town I'd never be caught going to, and they keep banker's hours. Which is impossible to do when you have a full time job.
I had to escalate that TWICE to get a pre-paid label. FOR THEIR MISTAKE. What's your time and hassle worth?
(Once in the past, they wanted me to take it to one of these Kolds department stores....never been to one. And no wonder, it was over 90 minutes away -- one way. They wouldn't budge on that one, so I took the $5.50 item and threw it out. I'd burn more on fuel and time than that bauble would ever be worth. There's a reason Amazon why I didn't renew Prime. Take a guess.)

"To think that constantly getting downvoted on every thread would make you stop, but you don't. In the other thread you just referred to, you were also calling it a bad deal, and now you are suggesting that deal over this one. Stop trolling on every thread.
I will tell you exactly why this deal is quite good, if not downright slick. First of all, a similar deal on a better condition was $100 more a short while ago, and it was a very popular frontpage deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/18466465-refurbished-a-grade-macbook-air-m1-399?src=SDSearc
So, reflecting on those, this is much cheaper and hence better.
Also, not everyone requires 16GB RAM to use a laptop for basic functions. This is a $300 laptop; keep your expectations real. This processor, display, speakers, keyboard, and build quality still outperforms a lot of Intel and Ryzen laptops at this price."
And marking your own comment as 'helpful' is very petty.

In other words, more capable machines for less money.
And many of these Dell machines have upgradable parts -- you can swap/add more memory and storage. You can give them a second, even third lease on life. Saving it from the landfill of ewaste. Isn't that greener than Apple's "you can't upgrade anything" policy?
:
I suppose Apple must have a lot of these machines on hand -- yet another 8gb ram, 128gb ssd, heavily used 5-year-old machine with short 90-day warranty.

Maybe if there were better quality deals, I wouldn't have to rewrite my words so many times! 8gb of ram and 128gb of storage in 2025 on a beat-up machine for $300 is objectively not slick. It probably is a deal for someone -- just not us consumers!
(At least I put the effort into writing my posts instead of copying and pasting. Please don't seek me out and target me for harassment on every thread I comment on.). Thank you and have a nice day.
This is a $300 laptop and 8gb ram is absolutely fine for general productivity. Plus, if you ever owned an M-series MacBook you'd know that macOS handles ram differently and more efficiently than a windows laptop. This is a well documented fact. Again, there's no other laptop at this price that offers better screen, build, speakers, keyboard and processor. The only two small caveats are the RAM and storage, but understandable at this price.
Stop harassing laptop threads. Have a good day. Thank you.

Excuse me? Don't try to play victim here. You only put effort in hijacking every other post and repeating this comment, and the proof of that is almost every comment yours get downvoted like crazy.

Second, I do have a M-series Macbook. Typing this comment on a M1 Air w/ 16gb ram + 1tb ssd. It sure does handle ram differently -- it's a shame that I can't get a M1 with 32gb, since this laptop hits the swap memory like it owes it money. It's barely acceptable. To say that 8gb ram and 128gb ssd is acceptable or slick or remotely close to a value today in 2025 is...well, it's an opinion for sure. Arguably...laughably the wrong one. But you're welcome to have it.
(just the facts -- as of this message, the original deal post is -3....so several others feel likewise to one of our opinions. I'll let you, dear reader, determine if they think this is a slick deal or not)
Third, you literally copy and pasted your response earlier (per your OWN words), simply to provoke a response.I didn't respond to you earlier in the other thread (because it wasn't worth responding to), but you baited me this time. Congrats, you win. You got me to respond, and to a low-effort bait too. It won't happen again, "Doctor". 🤣🤣🤣

The M1 MacBook Air, easily outperformed comparable laptop laptops with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD.

But 128gb ssd is laughable. And 8gb of ram will have you hitting that swap memory every time you boot the machine. That's the problem here -- a great chip with non-ugpradeable components....those components are the true limiting factor here. If you could upgrade both of those, it'd be a really decent machine today.
But then again, if you don't do that much & feel a mobile phone with a cracked screen is more than sufficient for your workflow, then perhaps an underspecced beat up laptop like this would be fine.

ignore him. he's a well known troll across multiple threads preaching the same things over and over. not worth the time and effort to respond to.
I've always felt and clearly communicated that underperforming laptops aren't a slick deal. And clearly stating specifically what makes these machines underperforming....in this case, the ram and ssd.
I've also said that decently specced machines are potentially an excellent value. Apple's hardware is typically top notch -- very good CPUs, excellent trackpad, very good keyboard, and at an entry-level pricepoint -- you're getting a gorgeous 16:10 IPS highDPI (~2.5K+) display.
It's just that the company that prides itself for being green with not including stickers, not including the full length power cable, not including a phone charger, using minimalist cardboard boxes....simply plum forgot to make their components replaceable. Which would be the #1 way to prevent early onset of ewaste-itis.
But nah, that's called "being a troll" in your opinion. Pointing out the uncomfortable truth of the situation is...well, uncomfortable. Can't have that, now can we? Gotta punish and admonish that behavior.
