A waterproof pouch for a cellphone is generally better than a simple ziplock bag for several reasons:
1. Designed for Electronics
Waterproof pouches are specifically engineered to keep phones safe from water, dust, and sand.
Ziplock bags are mainly for food storage and aren't guaranteed to fully protect against water pressure or splashes.
2. Secure Sealing Mechanism
Pouches usually have a locking system (clips, seals, or roll-top closures) that's more reliable than a ziplock's thin press-to-seal strip, which can easily fail.
Ziplocks can open if bent, stretched, or if the seal isn't perfectly aligned.
3. Durability
Waterproof pouches are made of tougher, puncture-resistant materials (PVC, TPU, etc.) that can withstand drops, scratches, or sharp objects.
