I have these. They are very nice, but the cups are a little shallow and the ANC components in the cups that stick out will poke the ears sometimes

Please do your research on the XM5 and XM6. Most of the posts on the SonyHeadphones subreddit are about them breaking.

Compared to the XM5, the XM6 has a subtle 10–15% boost in sound and noise canceling. Worth it if you use them daily, but not a big upgrade otherwise.

I have XM3 and XM5. The XM5 were a noticeable improvement in ANC, but the shape of the headphones now means they don't easily fit in my headphone compartment on my travel backpack. So, I've gone back to the XM3s often. If you are a frequent traveler, (I have nearly 2M miles on United), these are NOT hype. They are almost required.

You can grab the XM4s for about half the price and they're still really solid. They might not have every new feature, but performance is close enough that most people wouldn't notice a big difference

My kid has misplaced my XM2 and looking to get a replacement.

Now I'm looking at the Secondipity refurb XM4 at 160, BB at $200 new or XM6 at $250. Have a path for employee pricing on the XM6 that's why it's cheaper.

With that said, would it be a dumb play to go down to XM4 vs the XM6?

My question is are they worth the extra money? My headsets are older but still in my view fine for my purposes. Granted, I don't fly/take a train often or need them for silence at work. For me, my B&O h9i, Sennheiser 550ii and Jabra 85h Elite are amazing and found new today should be 1/3rd to 1/2 the price.

Read the reviews on comfort and recognize a NEW and likely better battery is in the 6. That narrows the cost. Personally, I stay away from anything but new on battery powered devices never mind the fact that the reconditioned set was likely on someone's sweaty head.
