Why do promoted tags a up appear, disappear and reappear on the same thread? It's like a shell game

Thanks. I think I understand what you are referring to.

That thread is currently showing up twice on the frontpage. It's showing up once because it was added to the frontpage through the normal process by the deal editors (based on price, comments, votes, etc) and then it's showing a second time because the thread has been promoted (potentially by the brand or merchant, I don't have insights into specifics).

While it might seem a little odd, there isn't anything sneaky going on. I hope that answers your question, but if not, please let me know.
