Looks like the bottom layer is plastic, the "pad" is a thin layer of polyester batting (aka plastic), and the top is cotton. So you're basically sleeping on plastic, which will not breathe. One comment said it sleeps hot, which tracks. But all waterproof mattress covers I've seen have a plastic bottom to make them waterproof, so they will all have the same issue unless they have a really thick layer of cotton or natural fiber padding in between.
