this or the microcenter 5080 with 16GB Ram for $1999?
do you have a link?
If you have microcenter nearby, pay the extra 100 or so dollars over this one and get the HP with a 5080. Much better laptop in terms of build quality.
I ended up getting the Legion 7 Pro. The HP has serious issues with thermals and hitting the power limit. Seems like it was not built with the power draw and heat in mind.
Good to know. The legion 7 with the 5070ti or the 5080? Nice machine either way.

Sorry for the slow reply, I ended up getting the 5080 Legion 7 Pro version from Micro Center for $2499. MC sells a similar MSI Vector for $1999. But they used a larger SSD and 64GB of RAM which makes life easier for me instead of upgrading the Vector (which is also too gaudy and "gamer leet" for my liking)
Imo the Legion 5 Pro already has good cooling and good power limits if you're buying the 5070 Ti. Especially since Nvidia is the one capping the power limit of the 5070 Ti (see various reports on this).
No need for the Legion 7 Pro's improved cooling or power delivery for the 5070 Ti version. Especially since the Legion 5 Pro can mostly handle the 275HX's heat load very well too. It's also more compact and lighter

Nice thanks for the update, good to know the cooling solution is working well as that's always a concern with the higher wattage cards. I also thought the build quality of the Vector that I messed with at MC was meh. But I really dislike the build quality of all the MSI laptops.
Agreed. I have owned 3 older MSI GS stealth laptops starting from over a decade ago and they all failed very quickly. Even RMA'ed one unit twice for failed fan bearings while it was under warranty. So I'll avoid them until they improve their build quality. Even the Gigabyte Aero laptops I've had the fan failures but the quality isn't as poor.
The fans are definitely a weak point for many gaming laptops because of the high heat loads
