I am not sure why expansion batteries are as expensive as the main unit when it doesn't have the inverter, mppt, etc.

Its the technology. the ability to talk to the main unit and recharge quickly.

Glad these are getting cheaper, but almost $1k for just 2kWh is still crazy. We're getting there though.

You're exactly right. That's outrageous in today's market.

I paid $850 a couple years ago for the delta 2 with extra 1kw battery, plus a free cover for the main unit. And that was with hugely inflated prices of that time period. Prices have dropped like a rock with many other brands.
I'm looking at a delta max or pro now. 🤔 But if prices don't get get in sync with today's market real quick I'm going to start shopping for a different brand. That pecron f300 Is looking interesting to me. $999 for a pretty capable 3kw system that would be eligible for the 30% tax credit.
