This thing is so freaking cool on a iphone.

i can open a voice chat, turn off my phone and it'll still continue to work 24/7.

Why would you want that 24/7. Just curious...

Can someone give steps to get this offer? Should I opt for monthly pro or yearly pro service?

Which reminds me. Buyers of the Pixel 9 phone got 1 free year of Gemini Pro. I still haven't redeemed it yet. I think it can still be redeemed for a few more months.
Is this new? I bought my Pixel 9 in December last year and didn't see such an offer.

use the paypal app, the link from within the offer takes you through a separate page to claim the deal

Still not clear. I have perplexity installed. PayPal app present. PayPal does show this deal. But How to link to my perplexity and does it have to be monthly pro subscription or yearly pro subscription. When I go in my perplexity account to go for pro subscription I do not see PayPal as payment method.

I signed up for the 2TB cloud plan to get the credit on google store purchases. Then I bought the Pixel 9 and 'upgraded' to the 2TB Gemini Pro account. It's been fun to play with but my work has the full copilot M365 suite that uses GPT-5 and so far comparing the two it's not even close. I won't be renewing the Gemini subscription at the end of this year trial. Definitely worth doing though before it expires.

As per the reports I read in the morning, this was supposed to be available via Venmo app too. But I'm not seeing it there. My Paypal is "limited", so I can't do it from there.

Not as reliable as Gemini in my experience. All of them hallucinate, and without a way to check the sources, it's even worse.

I double checked. Pixel 9 Pro users only. That includes the Pixel 9 Pro XL too. The regular vanilla Pixel 9 didn't get the offer:

When I click the link it just asks me what I want to pay with and shows a free 1 year at the bottom. After you click the payment card you want does it start the new account creation after that?
Edit
Found this link that makes everything much easier

Thank you for the link.

I tried to make a new perplexity account (i had used the xfinity offer) and then try the paypal offer. It still says "You've previously subscribed to Perplexity Pro. This promotion is only valid for first-time subscribers."

My paypal address is the same as my previous perplexity pro account that had the xfinity offer...... so I guess they are checking if your paypal account is in their database.

Am I stupid? Why can't I get Perplexity to respond in plain text like ChatGPT does? It's only giving me links even when I prompt it correctly. I'm ... perplexed.

Two things, I'd avoid for the next while.
  1. Giving an LLM access to a browser with possibly active sessions on bank websites.
  2. Giving an LLM access to aws cli, gcloud. It's ridiculously easy to convince an LLM to drain your bank account and very hard to protect against it as evidenced by nearly constant jail breaks of gpt, Claude and Gemini models
How many times has this happened?
