What happened to office PC's?

Looking here on Slickdeals for a deal on a PC for my home office. It looks like it's been over a year since office PC's from companies like Dell or HP have been posted.

Now it seems only Mini-PC's from Chinese makers I've not heard of are being posted. Have these Mini-PC's pretty much replaced the home office PC's of old?

Don't you need to add powered USB's and external hard drives with wires if you need to add those?

Why are not PC offerings from Dell or HP not being posted these days?

You're right about the recent PC deals. I'm guessing that mini PCs are a little cheaper to produce and ship, and pretty much just as powerful (unless you need a discrete video card), so deals come around more often. I was thinking of getting one to mount behind a TV and use that as my main computer.

Some of the more well-known brands have mini PCs, too. For example:

The lil' fellas are pretty energy efficient--they use small external power supplies just like a laptop. If you have special requirements for USB power output or internal hard drive capacity, that might force you to go for a larger form factor design. A lot of people just don't need that extra space for hard drives anymore thanks to high capacity SSDs, cloud storage, and personal NASs.
