I hate that HP does not allow the OLED display with the AMD versions of the Max 16.
Unfortunately, you are stuck with only MediaTek options for your WiFi card. You can upgrade the WiFi card yourself but you have to remove the entire heat sink to get to it. I don't know if the AMD version is the same, but on the Intel version they are using a hybrid silicone liquid metal for the CPU and GPU, might be best to just leave the heat sink attached.

Is ram and storage upgradable on this model? Or should I just eat the $340 cost to get 32 gigs and 1 tb?

I have the same model. The RAM is upgradeable, but the main SSD is difficult to upgrade for the same reason that the heat sink is blocking the way. However, there is a second SSD slot that you can use. I use the main SSD for the OS and the second SSD for everything else. It works well for me. Other things to note: it's hard to find an additional charger. I purchased one from eBay, a 330W HP charger with a 4.5mm tip size, which works well so far. It takes a 100W USB-PD charger. It runs smoothly in most cases, but strangely, it is quite slower when gaming than when on a battery.

Man I wish 20% discount code is back. My order of 5080 arrived with damaged bottom panel. Wish I have asked for a repair instead of return.

How? They always offer you an exchange first. I bought the Hp transcend 14 for only $1200, i really like it except for the crazy coil whine. Had to return it. The customer service rep offered me an exchange first, but I didn't want to take the risks so I rejected it.
