You need pads inserts for these, and since I picked this up, have never tried one, and wasn't sure if this came with at least a sample pad, I did a quick search on Amazon for the cheapest way to try this, and found Halls brand inserts at <$5 shipped for a 12 pack that most people seem happy with. https://www.amazon.com/Crane-Scen...B0CBT2RKK9 If these don't work then Amazon also has Vicks 20 pack for $15 shipped, I will try those next... and then give up.

It seems that this machine is so cheap... because the pads are expensive!

Ah, the old razor handle/blade game.

I wonder if it's possible to make your own pads.

Still available on Amazon. Reviews say you don't have to use the pads and can use just plain water instead.

I have one. It comes with a sample pad and you very much can make your own. It just has a pad holder that the steam goes through. You can cut up a cotton/paper pad, soak it in what you want and put it in.

I use plain distilled water with this steam inhaler and it works great. Never used any of the included pads.

Just plain distilled water for clean steam to clear pathways.

Other brand vapor pads can be used just fine though.

It is just a water / steam vaporizer.

I bought this and wasn't very impressed. It's sitting in the corner collecting dust now.
