Save money and buy a 10-pack of neodymium magnets for $2.99 at Harbor Freight. They'll work better.

Yes you would be searching for the magnetic drywall screws

The magnet works as a stud finder by either being attracted to drywall screws fastened to wooden studs, metal studs or from lathe being nailed to a wood stud.

Which the installer may or may not have driven into the center of the stud.

This piece of junk isn't gonna help you find center of the stud either. Need one of the Franklin Sensors ones with like 7 to 11 sensors. This is a great deal for a pretty mediocre item, imo

I have one of these and it's been working well for years. Shows lines on both sides of the stud. Make marks where the lines are on each side, and then you put the screw or drill between the marks. Some false positives, but a few 2nd tries usually gives you a good estimate. For the bux, this is a SD.

I've got both Zircon sensor stud finder (different model) and C.H. Hanson Magnetic Stud Finder ($10 on home depot). I use the cheap magnetic one way more. When it is critical, like mounting heavy cabinets, I use magnetic first and then the sensor one to double check the center.

I have this one and it blows the Zircon one out of the water. https://a.co/d/8kBnXuR

Anyone can compare with the max? Is it worth the $100+ price tag over the m210?

The Max has a 2.5" depth detection vs 1.7" for the regular.

Yep, I have not missed a stud with the magnetic stud finder...when I had one similar to this, different model, it was occasional miss. Had a craftsman electric one and it was miss most of the time LMAO
