Gets very poor video audio reviews. AI poor upscaling.

There are some comparison reviews on YouTube and yeah the majority of the films in the collection look far worse compared to the prior releases. The main issue is that stop motion clay has visual defects like finger prints that ai cleans up making a lot of the detail go missing as it tries to clean up.

Can't feel great for all the folks who spent $100+ on the first 4K set of this that was released...to then see it for $13.99. Glad I held out.

Welp, fans are fans. I have about 400 CDs in my collection, each purchased at about 4 hours' of minimum wage work

Al's Discount Upscaling Emporium has gone way downhill since Al passed away.

blu-ray .com doesn't have a review of it, but google gave me these reviews/comments:They all seem to be generally negative about the AI upscaling.

Yeah, the blu-ray forum is where to get the real info (though you have to wade through endless pages of "does this come with a slipcover?" and barely related tangent posts to find the good details). It was not well received by those looking very closely at the actual video quality. The only thing this set did right was pitch correct the audio, which was wrong on previous releases due to the PAL->NTSC speedup. But the actual video quality is generally a step down from the Blu-rays.

Don't those AI upscaling and loss of detail issues only affect the 4K disc? This set also comes with a Blu-Ray which AFAIK uses the same transfer as the previous release without those issues.

Some people bought the Lionsgate Blu-Ray release in 2010 and that disc is on the known disc rot list and has rotted for many people, once again disproving the lie that physical media lasts forever. Since Lionsgate doesn't have a disc rot exchange program, unlike Criterion for instance, the cheapest option to replace the rotted disc would be this set even if the 4K disc is basically a coaster due to them messing with the transfer.
