Also thanks for posting this OP

Not a complaint mind you .. but if it matters to you looks like there's one m2 slot (which is the case for the majority of laptops.. I prefer laptops with a second drive slot so I can more easily save my files on a different location that won't get wiped if I have to say restore a previous version of Windows but it's hard to find a laptop with that second m2 drive slot to begin with )

Newer AAA titles w/wizbangy features... not so much
ALSO, all those fun features:extra frames/reflections/DLSS 3 - nVidea 4K series STUFF, require LOADS of VRAM, so just because the kit can run it doesn't mean it has enough resources.
6GB is not enough for recent 'AAA' titles. EXCEPT in the future: Battlefield 6 will not support ray tracing, so likely will run great!
That said, if you wanna play older games at 1080p - this is a good deal. That RTX 4050 typically runs great without getting hot - it was only released for laptops. The drivers/NVidia Unified adjusts all the settings for most games to play smoothly - no fiddling needed.
I have a similar laptop and it run just about everything fine. Only game it couldn't play was Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Everything else has run buttery smooth.
If looking for a cheap gaming PC, given 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD - this as cheap as it gets.
I have a huge library of games on GOG, Epic, Ubi, MS.... and they all look just fine in 1080p.

Am i trying to convince myself that I made a good decision? yeah... the power supply of the HP is underwhelming, even for an RTX4050, it's not good.
If like my HP, it's underpowered - EDMARK Solar Bay expreme Score DV12 6,619 _(consistently below average)_

better powered 4050's hit 7,800 on this test, but then they cost more.

This is a 6 core, not an 8 core.

Also, it's 2 zen4 and 4 zen4c

Not a great gaming chip. Not slick.

apologies for being confusing! I was trying to say if you have only the one hard drive and everything.. files, windows everything (say for example music or pics or pdf's for example)... on the C drive (edit - when I say "C drive" I mean the one single m2 drive that has everything, Windows and all your files on it) and you have to restore from a previous backup everything goes bye bye far as those types of files that was new or modified since the previous backup. It's all on the C/single drive and the backup only takes a "snapshot" of the C drive (and all the files in it) at the time you made the backup so if you restore from that previous backup any new files you added or files you changed .. that stuff is gone (older versions of files you altered will be there but any new changes to the files you made after that last "snapshot" backup of Windows will be gone since the backup restores your laptop to the condition it was in when you made that backup of Windows). I hope that makes sense!

If you have a second hard drive in the laptop you can save the files onto instead not so much of a problem ... when you restore an earlier version of Windows (the C drive) back to the primary/first hard drive Windows is on it doesn't affect the files (music, pics, pdfs, whatever) that were on the second hard drive you were storing said files on since the files on the second hard drive are not affected by the back-up of Windows you are restoring from.

I'm sure there are ways around it like say a cloud storage backup option... I know I tend towards paranoia but I've always been nervous about cloud backups.. if they get hacked any important files in there that get exposed during the hack could give you problems if the info in those files can be used against you. I favor periodically making a manual backup of new and/or changed files onto an external hard drive personally but - there are lots of people who would argue with me on this and say I'm being way too paranoid

I know there's an automated NAS (think it's NAS) type thing where you can automate the whole thing and just have backups of everything automatically go to the NAS computer you set up at home too. Someone correct me if I'm wrong not too familiar with that tech

Can you offer something you think is slick then? I am looking for a gaming laptop for my daughter.
