Are you gonna state your reasons?

i'm not serious about my data because anything worth saving is worth saving on the cloud.
i had a couple 2TB hard drives laying around for a few years since i moved to these USFF Dell computers.
I had 3 external drives connected to this computer but i found a cheap version of this on Temu. I shucked the 3 external drives and installed it to the this 5-bay sata to usb device. then added the 2 2TB drives. it works perfectly for my needs. I only use these drives for Plex. I think i have 21TB connected to this thing. all running on one usb 3.0 cable. it works for my needs. obviously anything i feel is worth securing, i backup on the cloud and across these drives.

Read the reviews on Amazon. A lot of USB DAS solutions have similar issues.

So one of the bays posted below says 40tb as total and another says over 200, the one listed above. Are these set limitations. What's the difference between the two types? Also can I mix size drives. I've heard with raiding they have to be the same size. I just want to compartmentalize my drives in one area. I have more than 5 with varying size amounts from 2-14 tb I believe.

So this won't support the latest 24, 26, 28tb seagate drives, correct?

Are these ORICO drives more reliable than Yottamaster? I am having possible issues with a 4 bay Yottamaster, but I am not sure if it was the drive or if the enclosure caused it. I had 4.5 years with no issues before this, so I tend to think it was the drive, but then I just had another drive become unrecognizable and needed to be reformatted.

This is a good question. I bought this thinking I could put any drive into it and it would work. This is not the case. The interface is for a specific type of SATA. I have several hard drives I wanted to use snd unfortunately the first two I've tried were incompatible with this device. The description was so vague and it would not have been obvious that this was the case. I think it might be SATA III but I'm not too savvy with the terms to know but it definitely is limited by having only one type of connector and incompatible with some drives. Also the primary language is foreign on the manual. There is an English section halfway through the manual but it's vague.
