If the printer works with klipper, it should work with this. My take is this will act as a raspberry pi. Be ware you will have to come up with a config file, and this will not by any means plug and play. Start here and see if your printer has a config file. https://github.com/Klipper3d/klip...ter/config

I can confirm the config file can take a while to get right. I am running this on a CR6-SE and it is a great improvement from stock. probably the best tho grade I have made to the printer. highly recommended if you want to add new life into an older printer. The IP interface is great, and adding a camera allows for remote monitoring. it can also run more than one printer, but I only use it for one now. The work to make it right has paid off for me, and it has been a great upgrade.

Any practical improvement over marlin + octoprint, apart from input shaping and touch control?
I played with klipper with my girlfriend's K1. The touching part is nice, but I feel most other convenient features can be done with octoprint as well. I do not fiddle around with the firmware itself at all, which is an advantage of klipper but not very useful for me.

I have a older S1 don't use it much anymore because it's slow and not nearly as it user friendly as my flash fordge. Would this help update the old machine, or is it just to add a touch interface?

This is a crazy good deal if youre in the market for something like this. You cant even get a Raspberry Pi for this cheap.

Ive used one of these for over a year to convert and control 4 Ender V3 SE via Klipper. It definitely isnt plug and play like Creality makes it seem but it isnt too difficult either. For example, two of the printers required editing the firmware to find the right voltage for the Z axis motors.

This will allow you to convert older Creality printers from Marlin to Klipper, which does a lot more than just 'add touch interface and input shaping'

It allows remote control, monitoring via camera, access to bed mesh, ability to batch print, increased print speeds... I could go on but it is too many things to list.

Octoprint is fine if thats your jam but Klipper and Mainsail/Fluidd is better.

Edit: btw I paid 90 for this refurb model when I bought it a year ago. Used to retail new for like 180

Thanks for sharing this deal. I'd mostly retired the Ender 3 Pro after picking up a Centauri Carbon, but for less than $40 this is worth a shot.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if this can be used on a printer to upgrade it and then taken off site to another printer while the first printer keeps the benefits?I sold a friend one of my enders and just curious if he would need this or I can just upgrade his for him but the klipper unit comes back with me. Thanks

Got the Ender 3 S1 from Microcenter for $69 last year, and was looking to improve or upgrade and purchased this refurb @ $38 last week. This thing does exactly what you want it to do, allowing control from your in-network laptop, or from it's very detailed screen. If you use Cura as your slicer you will have to create a new printer profile and import 2 profiles into it (Fast & normal) but it does seem to allow for greater speeds and better accuracy. Plus I found leveling the bed with this was much more simple compared to the method on the little Ender screen.
Keep in mind, this will replace/override the firmware built into the printer so you can only use the SonicPad going forward, but so far it's been worth it.
I'm going to get the refurb camera for $20 for time lapse.
If you are considering a raspberry pi/klipper or octoprint this is a cheaper alternative at this price point.

No, the firmware is in the sonicpad, no longer in your printer once you install it (At least that's how it is on Ender 3 S1) you can manage/run mulitiple printers from it, but they have to be connected

It is called a Nebula and it is currently 15$ on ebay. I have one. It is a great camera, I like how you can manually focus it for distance.

That would be cool, but no. The pad must stay connected to the printer at all times. You can connect up to 4 but it is by usb cable. The firmware is installed onto the printer but you still need the Sonic Pad connected because it is running all the processing power for the commands and monitoring and wifi etc.

I installed it on my old Ender 3 pro before and I was able to print faster than the hardware allowed but I was still hitting 200-300 m/s, which on an ender 3 pro is pretty impressive.

Also I forgot to add, if you do buy this for the Ender 3 V3 SE, be aware you WILL need to buy a separate serial to USB cable from creality. It isnt expensive, like 5-10$ but something to be aware of as an additional cost. AFAIK it is only the V3 SE that needs this cable.
