I have a Dbrand Ghost 2.0 case and their screen protector pre ordered for $70, thought I'd try a nice case. But man, now I'm thinking about cancelling that order since it still hasn't shipped.

Yes, 17 Air and Pro models this year have anti-glare coating and yes you loose antireflective properties with the glass screen protector on it. Mate screen protectors improve glare but those are made out of liquid gel/film and only protect from scratches.

so if I want the anti-reflective properties there's no point putting these screen protectors anymore?

Just fyi. Apple decided to add Anti reflective coating to the 17 line up this year just like how Samsung did last year. If you do not get an anti reflective screen protector your anti reflective properties will be lost. TORRAS, FLOLAB, and now ESR makes AR coated screen protectors. I went with ESRs 3 pack for 20 on Amz.

AR is not a total gimmick as it does help with reflection and glare.
Though, no it's not and should not be a dealbreaker for many.

Just wanted to share as an fyi if you want to utilize one of this year's new features.

Correct. If you want to keep anti reflective properties either 1. Use without screen protector or 2. Get one with Anti reflective coating. Samsung has their own anti reflective screen protector for their galaxy lineup however apple does not so have to rely on third party.
