Bought 3, want some Discotech too 💥! Will report after 1 year about reliability. In the worst case scenario ☠️, I will end up with flashy storage box and usb-c 3.0 cable 😃. Usually have good luck with Orico products. Like the idea of clear case so I can see what's inside. Some users having fun printing inserts with custom images. Apparently, this model has ASMedia chip which offers better lifespan and performance than JMicron 🧐. There is no guarantee I will get that chip, manufacturers change specs often.

How is it weird? Statistically speaking, your and their purchases are a small sample size of the overall sales. It's not in the realm of impossibility for them to have two duds while you have two good copies. But yeah, math is weird.

Lets see, my sample size of orico is prob about 10. I think I had one caddy have trouble and I'm pretty sure it was cable/receptacl related. I've even bought some higher end nvme ssds and they are doing well.

Why would this not work for an 8TB drive?

I came here to say that I've had at least 5 of these die on me in the last two years. I ended up buying a new one, returned one of the dead ones. Haven't used it since testing the drive was still good.

I got a couple of 2TB SSDs from work. Put 2 in my PC but have 3 more just lying around.
With these I could just stick them in and they become 2TB external SSDs?
