Two items that are almost indestructible:

1. 3/4" breaker bar
2. 1/2" impact socket set (made in Taiwan)

I'm lazy. Less than 100 ft-lbs = 1/2" HF roto head ratchet. More than 100 ft-lbs = 3/4" breaker bar. More than 500 ft-lbs = heat to cherry red, and 3/4" breaker bar.

Definitely worth grabbing some Pittsburgh sockets, impact sockets, click type torque wrenches, ratchets, and the colored screwdriver set. I'd avoid the pliers and stuff though.
