Don't do it guys.

Keep in mind if you decide to port within those 3 years, you have to pay off the watch and iPad in full at retail pricing (minus what you already paid)

Cellular iPad and watch are $130 more vs WiFi only
(I'm not sure if they increased lately)

I doubt any carrier would afford to do that. Already the carriers are bleeding

I tried adding the upgrade and going through the checkout process and never got a notice to get a free ipad, watch or $200. Took me all the way to the button to confirm the order with no offer other than the $1,100 free phone credits with trade.

Not sure if you really want to do it -- but the free ipad and watch requires their respective plans (eg. you need to get a tablet plan and a watch plan)

Those are only free if you add a new line. I wanted to upgrade to the 17 pro and was ready to check out, but I tried to talk to a customer representative first to see if I can get any other discounts. they were actually able to waive the $40 upgrade fee. They did, however, try their best to upsell me warranty, accessories, free watch/ipad (with new line of course), or a free iPhone 16 with $200 gift card (new line). It took a while to say no to the BS, but I saved $40 so that was worth it imo

People are going to MVNO's.
If you need a new phone (which should be after 3-4 years) get it directly from nanufacturer Apple/Samsung, etc and avoid these traps.

Yeah just had a chat with a Verizon rep and he confirmed I could get an iPad A16 and Watch 11 for free as well as an $1,100 credit for trading in a Pro 13 but would need to add iPad and watch cell service and be on the Unlimited Ultimate plan (which we already are)

Those extra plans are the real money makers/deal killers. iPads just aren't expensive enough to justify a $10 data plan, except for convenience, and - in my experience - Apple Watches tend to "fall off" the LTE network silently. Unless you are regularly away from your tethered phone, the LTE network is never used and if the LTE info drops you are never notified (I suspect it's when the WatchOS is upgraded, but I never tracked it down). That means you are likely to find yourself with no service if you happen to lose or become separated from your phone, as there is no way to reset the APN data from the watch itself, it MUST be done from the host phone. I have no doubt there are people who get use out of AppleWatch LTE service, but the tethered nature of the Watch devices makes them far less independent than they should be.

As for prepaid plans...IF you are using all the benefits they can be worthwhile. And if you're going to be on a prepaid, you may as well get a free phone every couple of years because you're paying for it anyway. My T-mo gets me a couple of streaming services, free in-flight wifi on most of my domestic travel, and decent backup service when I'm in UK/Europe. Since I use that a lot, it's a value proposition for me. I'm not sure about V, but T-mom requires your device be paid off to install a second (e/)SIM, but they continue the bill credits for the full duration. Essentially I buy the phone (pay in full after a month so I can put in my UK sim), and they cut that cost off my bill even after it's paid off.

I looked into it a bit more and it looks like since we have the unlimited ultimate plan the watch plan is only $7.50 a month more. At $90 a year for 3 years that's still cheaper than just buying the new watch 11 with GPS only or $500 off of the Ultra 3 and you do get 5g now. Since we have model 7's now and would like to upgrade it seems like a decent deal to not only get the better watch at a discount (free) but only pay $270 plus tax for it over 3 years.
