It's a good laptop, but it really hurts not having that OLED panel. You can get a Lenovo Legion 7i or an Asus Zephyrus G16 for a better or similar price.

I'm on the fence as I bought this at a higher price earlier on Amazon and had had a chance to test this.
Performance is very very good, primary reason to buy this is for TB5. CPU scores I saw in Overdrive were crazy strong when usb powered to an EGPU dock. Comparing to a Ryzen Ai 395+ to this I was seeing roughly 9500 on it vs 14500 on the AW in Timespy for CPU scores. Average clock speed said 5.3ghz across the Pcores.

Average scores I saw on the numerous laptops I ran through to find one I liked were about 8000 on the g14 and 11k in n the Aprus Master 16. So a good 40% higher raw scores than anything else I used.

Downside: horrible and I mean HORRIBLE battery life. Yes you can cap turbo and drop brightness but it's still worrying to see 53mins of battery remaining at 76% while web browsing and another showing 7hours. It's all over the place. I'd say at best 4 hours max for this device with aggressive measures.

I know it seems odd to cross shop this against the P1 G8 or the P16 G3 but that is what I'm doing as ASUS has burned me multiple times with horrible build quality enough to rule out the Scar. The AW is the best I've seen of any laptop I've tried this or last year.

The debate I'm having is do I want this now at $2200 with horrific battery life or roll the dice on a P1/P16 for possibly as high as $1000 more to get the usual 5-10hours I'd prefer this Christmas?
I'm really not sure as part of me wonders if this is a BIOS update away from being fixed (high idle power usage)

Also this thing doesn't play nice docked over TB with multiple monitors. Buyer beware!

yeah I saw that Lenovo Legion for 2k at microcenter but those don't exist in my state, and it looks like the Lenovo uses 2x 1TB ssds so there's no room to upgrade but the Alienware looks like it has 3 SSD slots and a single 2tb which is a plus for me. How great is OLED over IPS?
