If this was in a big case it would make an amazing cheap gaming PC.

It's a very good deal for a very capable PC for home office and photoshop or video tasks. Or for a Plex server 🏴 ☠

You could slip a small form factor gpu in there.

The processor alone is $299, wonder if the system would accept the new Arc B50 for a cheap good workstation

Anyone know if we can rip it out and put into a standard ATX case?

I feel the 250w PSU would be maxed out by the CPU alone. You would want to upgrade the PSU or transfer the entire system to a new case with PSU but not sure if the power connections are proprietary like on Dell

This seems pretty steep for an old CPU and a system that can't play games. You'd match it with an Ryzen 9600X build that has a decent PSU and full size case for the same or less.

You and I use "amazing cheap" differently, especially when the can't play games without putting in a bad GPU or also buying a new power supply (which wouldn't fit).If you want a $500 gaming machine, buy an RTX 4050 laptop, or build the desktop yourself. (Maybe a -G Ryzen).

Odds are good that you would need a 14 to 24 pin power supply adapter at least.

Seems like an ok deal if you need the multi-thread power of a 14700 but don't need a lot of RAM, don't need/want a GPU, and don't like the idea of building your own.
For anything else:
The form factor seems awkward, too narrow to add a GPU and too big to hide it away as a SFF. Even if you manage to squeeze a GPU in with a riser cable, the 14700(turbo) can use up to 219W of that 260W power supply.
At this price I would personally build a i5-14600k/36gb system for productivity or a homeserver, and if adding a GPU for gaming then a Ryzen 5 9600X/32gb build for the upgradability of AM5.
For day to day use a base M4 Mac Mini and external drive seems like a better buy, since they go on sale for $450. If you aren't tied to Windows that is.

Based on replacement part videos, this does not have a PCI-E Slot, just 2 M.2 slots (one populated by Wifi, one with SSD). Replacement videos provided by Lenovo: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/...8irr9-90xs
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to throw a LP GPU in here.

this seems great as a cheap business desktop. This is half the price of a lot of computers at my work and a way better cpu.

I built an AMD PC with an AM4 CPU last week for under $500 and that includes a GPU. Everything was new except for the GPU and it will run circles around this office PC. Pretty baller, and it looks great too.

$58 - MSI B550m WIFI 6E Motherboard
$98 - AMD 5700X CPU
$55 - 32GB Corsair DDR4 RAM
$45 - MSI Mag 650w PSU
$60 - 1TB gen4 NVME with TLC storage
$135 - Asus RX 6600 XT GPU
$10 - Pack of 3x Thermaltake aRGB fans
$15 - Cooler Master aRGB CPU Cooler$22 - Zalman Tempered Glass Case
$498 - Total Cost

Wow, you were quick. That was between my two posts.

I mean, this one is Microcenter, but there have been similar deals on Newegg for motherboard/CPU/RAM combos the last several months: https://slickdeals.net/f/18384262

If all you want is gaming, you can pay $129 for a CPU and mobo, then $100 for RAM & case, then $50 for 1TB SSD and it's a pre-gaming machine for $279. Then spend the rest on a GPU (Zotac refurb 12GB RTX 3060) and it's $500 total: https://slickdeals.net/f/18584569-amd-ryzen-5-5500-gigabyte-b550m-gaming-x-matx-mobo-asus-nc01-mouse-pad-129-free-shipping?src=SiteSearch

The 9600X deals were from May-July, IIRC. But I'm always flexible and go where the sales are. If you MUST have a specific product, then you pay more.

If you're serious about building the cheapest possible machine to play all games up to 2022 and some newer games, reply and ask for details...probably PM. I'm always down to help people with planning their builds for a bargain.
