the number of tuners equates to how many devices can be watching different channels at the same time. 2 tuners means it can tune into and stream 2 different channels at once.

I had one of these and was never happy. Recordings were unplayable pretty frequently even after buying a top of the line external drive specifically for video recording. The lack of an hdmi out is an incredibly weird design choice. Mine eventually completely broke after 11 months and I gave up on trying to fix it since Jeopardy is now on streaming

Had one for a year now and can't complain. Latest firmware has been good and they seem to be actively developing the platform.

I have a 3rd gen 4 tuner and love the snot out of it. The 4th gen has been problematic but sounds like they are finally 1.5+ years after release getting the issues figured out.
This is a great price if you have ever considered one, and definitely what I would call a "slick" deal.

What's the difference between 2 tuner and 4 tuner?

So how does this connect with Smart tvs? I connect through router and install the app on TVs? Looking to primarily get this to record and watch NFL games. Do you all recommend this for local channels and games?

Do these go obsolete in a year because of the new TV standards / DRM?

I have messed with HDHomeruns (prime and the atsc 3.0 versions for a decade). Hooked through plex and all that good stuff. Any owners have thoughts I would be happy to hear them (for a vacation rental). Seems like a more all in one solution than what I have used

I think you have 10+ years before 3.0 is your only option. Too many outstanding issues to resolve before the previous generation is decommissioned

Thats correct. You can connect over wifi or ethernet cable. I have been using it for watching NFL. I found it pretty convenient and useful. The UI is pretty good. I have no complaints and dont regret buying it. I bought it for $70 or so.
