They do make a smart panel if you want to have this connected to the grid. It's basically a sub panel and can automatically switch power sources for you.

if you are getting solar installed can you ask the company to add some sort of connector to add this in? is that doable for a home owner to add this in?

I paid 8k for the Costco deal that featured the inverter, 18kw stack, and the smart home panel 2. Dbl check if that's still running. The system is incredible so far. Highly recommend if you're thinking about making the jump.

depends how much solar. But most solar companies won't help you. They'd rather you buy their overpriced stuff. Always worth asking. If not get an electrician not a solar installer
