I guess it's neat as a reusable single-serving "popcorn box", but kinda overpriced for what it is.

You can make microwave popcorn with any microwave-safe container with lid. Oil or no oil.

A bowl with plate on top works fine.

A paper bag works. Alton Brown uses one single staple to keep it shut, but it's unnecessary. Folding the bag over works.

20% of reviews are one-star. There are always going to be some single star reviews, but 20% implies there's something wrong here. Sounds like the flaps open, sending popcorn everywhere. A lot report the flaps rip.

I guess he used too.

I tried to find a proper link, but it seems the updated stuff no longer mentions it.

It was probably removed for liability, especially since it's unnecessary when you can just fold the bag over.

Whole bunch of old threads and forums mention it, some using the method successfully and some getting fires started in their microwaves.

We have a different shaped popper with a separate lid. We use it exclusivity after we found out all the chemicals in the microwave bags. If this one works, it might be better to have an integrated lid. Price is good in my opinion.

Edit- didn't realize how small this is. So maybe not.

I do the paper bag method too but I read that the bottom of brown paper bags are glued and if the bags aren't labeled food safe the high heat might break down the adhesives and release fumes or chemicals. Sigh.

Looks great but I really want the movie popcorn experience. Love the yellowing, butter-tasting, salty goodness.

I've always just made mine the old fashioned way in a pot on the stove.
I like that method because it's easy to adjust the amount whether you're making it for a couple of people or several.

I've been microwaving popcorn in a brown paper bag for over 40 years. No staple. Just roll it like you pack a lunch. Remember when people still did that? 😆

40 years ago, we still didn't own a microwave. Used a pot on the stove or a good old jiffy pop. We were kids and loved the expanding aluminum foil of the Jiffy Pop.

Now I have one of the larger silicone poppers, and it is my preferred method. These might work but seems to be a small serving for me, plus the silicone gets very hot in the microwave. I always pour it into a separate serving bowl.

Yeah, not a huge fan of consuming food from microwaved plastic made in China.
