All sponges will smell moldy quickly if you leave them sopping wet.
The easy fix (besides thoroughly wringing them out after each use) is to wet them, put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high, carefully remove them from the microwave (it will be hot) wring them out and, viola, fresh smelling again!
