Pretty decent books for the price. Listening to the 3rd book currently.

Totally worth it. I got this trilogy the last time it went on sale, and it was a really enjoyable.

These books describe exactly what is happening right now with everyone lying to each other and themselves to keep everything from falling apart.
Great books and the Apple series is great too.

$1 cheaper than I got it in a previous sale.
Pretty good read, though it gets a little slow, especially in second and third books. And a good way to get ahead of the AppleTV+ series which may take forever to get to the big reveals. Also, as a reader, you might find a main character to be frustratingly slow on the uptake. You'll likely figure out what is going on well before they do. Overall, recommended for most sci-fi fans.

Tried to read this after I finished the excellent, Three Body Problem series and WOW!! I had to stop reading it due to the overly descriptive, incredibly hackneyed writing style.

They always say "If you want to sell a lot of books, write at an 8th grade level."

Silo's author really took this to heart.

Started reading The Road again, just to wash off the stank of Silo.

Great premise.

Garbage writing.

That's really funny, I had the exact same experience except I read some Southern Reach between Three Body Problem and Silo, which did not help.

Silo has a very interesting concept, but (and I'm going to sound like an insufferable *ick for saying this) if you are used to sophisticated writing, this series might be a challenge. I'd say the writing was similar to the Divergent series, by which I mean, YA level, but also not very good. I can hang with Hunger Games, Golden Compass, etc. no problem.

I don't even agree that the writing style is hackneyed, or that overly descriptive writing is a problem. It's more that, what the characters think and say is almost corny or immature maybe?

Hating on Silo is not popular so I'm glad to get some confirmation that I'm not crazy. I couldn't finish Wool, just too much wishy-washy dialogue and dumb plot holes (a journey down 15 flights of stairs takes hours?). It's ROUGH.

I think that's a fair assessment. At least in my mind I attribute the immaturity to the silos inhabitants because they are stunted in many ways. Just my opinion.
